Thursday 11 January - Boston

Today is officially freezing. Below is an idea of how cold it was at 9am this morning. Walking to work... thanks to one G Ormsby. It's the breeze that's the killer in Boston - its obviously off the Arctic circle 'cos it's just freezing and goes straight through you. Hence, I reckon that the inclusion of what the temperature actually feels like in the Weather.com website is a balltearer (that means 'good'. It can also mean funny or hilarious). Walking to work this morning, the ears were hurting, and the face was full-on windburnt. And the scary thing it's going to get colder next week!

The forecast for Boston for the next 10 days can be viewed here:

As commented by the O-Train last year (G Ormsby), the toilets at Vitale are interesting. So much so, that in true Pete fashion, he took the issue up with Vitale's version of Don Rankin, the managing partner Rich Caturano, and was assured that within a couple of weeks there will be much less visibility of those sitting on the thunder box (toilet). Quite simply, the cubicle walls are like a miniskirt... they go nowhere near the floor. But there's also big gaps between the cubicle doors and the cubicle wall, meaning you could probably see in and recognise who's behind that strong odour (not that I will be attempting to do so). This has actually been a trend throughout a lot of American toilets (the lack of privacy; not the looking into cubicles).

But the Vitale office is quite the opposite - it's quite private
. Unlike PP's open floor plan, where you can see from one end of the floor to the other, Vitale's interior is dominated by walls, high office cubicle dividers, and a maze of passageways. It's also a lot quieter than PP, and one's voice, particularly when on the phone, tends to be a lot easier to hear at Vitale. The managers and partners, who have their own offices, spend a lot more time with their doors closed. And once the door's closed, there's no seeing into their offices either. All seniors have their own office cubicles (I've managed to land one next to Becky and not far from Pete), but the juniors have to hot-desk it, meaning they show up on the morning at reception, ascertain which cubicles are free and book themselves into it.

Scary thing was my first day here I was freezing to death and they kept telling me how "unseasonally warm it is". That's certainly turned around now. No good
